H = Hairspray

David Connolly in conversation with Stephanie Pitsiladous and Brigette Clark Carmichael for Matinee to Z,

a series of Instagram Live Master Classes developed in response to Covid-19.

Here’s a recap of some theatre games we shared in the hopes of keeping y’all busy and creating...

1, 2, 3 WORD
Two people simultaneously count to 3 and say a word. The object is for you both to say the same thing at the same time.

PROP PROMPT
Use random props or household objects to prompt stories and characters. Don’t discuss it beforehand and change characters as you change props.

ALIEN INTERVIEW
For two or three people: a talk show host/ interpreter and an Alien guest. The host asks questions, the Alien answers in gibberish and the interpreter interprets the answer which leads to the next question.

SHORT SCRIPT
See how many ways/ storylines you can invent using just this script:
Person 1: Hi
Person 2: Hello, how are you?
Person 1: Fine.
Person 2: OK, well, I gotta go.
Person 1: OK.
Person 2: Bye.

A NEW-SICAL
Create a song, dance or scene based on any story (existing or invented). Include Main Characters, Supporting Characters, an Incident/ Conflict and a Resolution. Act it out with humans or puppets or animation...
(If you need help inventing a plot, try creating a one-word-at-a-time story with a friend or group.)
